Safety Center
Practical guidance for safer anonymous conversations.
Protect your identity
- Use a nickname that does not reveal your full name or social-media handle.
- Never share your home address, live location, workplace, school, travel plans, passwords, one-time codes, or financial information.
- Be careful with photos: backgrounds, reflections, uniforms, documents, and metadata may reveal identifying details.
Think before sending images
- Only send images you have the right to share and that you would be comfortable with the recipient seeing.
- Never send intimate or sensitive images to strangers, and never share someone else's intimate image without consent.
- “View Once” does not guarantee deletion from every device. A recipient may screenshot, record, or photograph the screen.
Recognize scams and manipulation
- Be wary of requests for money, gift cards, crypto, banking details, passwords, or verification codes.
- Do not open suspicious links or install apps at another user's request.
- Be cautious if someone pressures you to move quickly to another platform, keep secrets, or prove trust by sharing private information.
Harassment, threats and unwanted contact
If someone makes you uncomfortable, stop replying and use the Block control. Use Report for harassment, threats, spam, suspected underage use, or other safety concerns. If you believe there is an immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted person.
Meetups and offline contact
GhostChat cannot guarantee that another user is who they claim to be. If you choose to meet someone, meet in a public place, arrange your own transport, tell someone you trust, and do not share your home address. Do not meet if you feel pressured or unsafe.
Report responsibly
Submit accurate information when reporting. Do not use reports to retaliate or harass others. The operator should review reports promptly, provide a monitored support contact, and have a documented escalation process.
If you are under 18
Do not use GhostChat. If someone claims to be under 18 or you suspect exploitation, stop contact and report the profile. Do not request, save, or forward sexual images involving anyone under 18.
Limits of technical protections
Blocking and reporting can help, but they cannot control conduct outside the website. The site cannot reliably prevent screenshots, screen recordings, or copies of content that another user can view.
